& 'Arrival' bersaing bagi piala tertinggi di Directors Guild of
America (DGA) Awards 2017. & ya, ada sutradara 'Deadpool' di
kategori sutradara debutan.
Directors Guild of America (DGA) telah mengumumkan nominasi bagi DGA Awards ke-69, dimana kelima sutradara yg bersaing bagi piala paling bergengsi yaitu nominee perdana ketika penghargaan ini. Mereka yaitu Damien Chazelle (La La Land), Garth Davis (Lion), Barry Jenkins (Moonlight), Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester by the Sea) & Denis Villeneuve (Arrival).
Lagi, Deadpool juga turut bersaing ketika ajang penghargaan. Kali ini, sang sutradara Tim Miller masuk nominasi sebagai sutradara debutan terbaik bersama Nate Parker (The Birth of a Nation), Garth Davis (Lion), & Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) & Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen).
Sejak diselenggarakan di 1948, hanya tujuh pemenang DGA award yg kaga membawa pulang piala Best Director bagi Oscar. Tahun ini, beberapa sutradara yg diabaikan oleh DGA diantaranya Martin Scorsese (Silence), Mel Gibson (Hacksaw Ridge), David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water) & Denzel Washington (Fences).
Di departemen televisi, pemenang tahun kemudian Game of Thrones & Veep kembali masuk nominasi bersama pendatang baru Stranger Things, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Westworld & Atlanta.
